CADF Featured on KEYE News!

CADF Chair Lyda Creus Molanphy on KEYE-TV

CADF was recently featured on the popular KEYE-TV news segment “We are Austin” alongside our incredible partner Dentists with a Heart on  Check out the segment with CADF Chairman, Lyda Creus Molanphy and Dr. Sergio Escobar explaining how our organizations are working together to transform lives through a new innovative approach to delivering charitable dental care in the Austin area.

Congratulations CADF Volunteer of Quarter: Dr. Gary Cash

“I am a CADF volunteer because I want to make a difference in the community. I have the ability to help people and CADF makes it easy to get involved.” Gary Cash, DDS

Dr. Gary Cash relocated his dental practice to Austin in 2011.  The Michigan native had grown weary of Midwest winters and toured several states before deciding upon Austin. He purchased his practice in Central Austin from Dr. Steven Norman, who practiced over 30 years in Austin.  It was Dr. Norman who told him about the Capital Area Dental Foundation and encouraged him to get involved.

Dr. Cash, who also sits on the Board of Manos de Cristo, became involved with CADF and has been a HAAM dental provider for several years. He sees one or two HAAM patients each month.  “It’s rewarding helping artists who are working so hard doing what they love,” Dr. Cash said. “Musicians help Austin preserve its unique character.”

Like many HAAM providers, Dr. Cash has attended the performances of his musician patients.  He has also gone above and beyond, providing extensive treatment on a case-by-case basis when needed.  Recently, he replaced a “temporary” bridge that one of his patients had been using for decades.

Thank you Dr. Cash for getting involved in our community and helping CADF achieve its mission of transforming lives through charitable dental care!

Inaugural Season for Caring Dental Day Tremendous Success!

Season for Caring Dental Day: December 3, 2017

On Saturday, December 3, CADF teamed up with Rose Dental and Dentists with Heart to offer free assessments and teeth cleanings to 2017 Season for Caring families.  All of the local families were nominated by area nonprofits and then screened and selected by the Austin American-Statesman to participate in the annual program.

Since 2013, CADF dentists have donated nearly $80,000 in dental care to families in need as part of the annual Season for Caring campaign. Last year, CADF dentists donated about $23,000 in charitable dental care and plans to increase that amount this year.

A special thanks to all the dentists, volunteer and staff who made this day possible!

Dr. Shane Matt is a member of the CADF Board of Directors and longtime fundraiser and volunteer provider for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).  In fact, Dr. Matt was involved with the founding of HAAM more than ten years ago.  A native of Louisiana, Dr. Matt moved to Austin in 1999 to be close to the city’s vibrant music scene.  Dr. Matt’s dental practice, Authentic Smiles, located in downtown Austin, has a relaxed vibe and his patient list is a veritable “who’s who” in the Austin music scene.
