Celebrate World Smile Day: Volunteer Today

What better day to thank our amazing volunteers then on Friday, October 5, World Smile Day.

A special THANK YOU to the following dentists who participated in one of more CADF charitable care programs during the month of September.  Thank you for bringing smiles to dozens of low-income and uninsured Central Texans who have nowhere else to turn for life-changing dental care.

Volunteers are still being recruited to serve an ever-growing list of patients who are in pain and need dental care to alleviate their discomfort and improve their quality of life and confidence.  Contact Tiffany Teague at tiffany.cadf@gmail.com or Charlotte Laguna at charlotte.cadf@gmail.com for more information about ways to volunteer.

Be a Hero—Volunteer Today for the Healthy Smiles for Texans (DDS) Program

Healthy Smiles for Texans (DDS) is a national program created by dentists to bring comprehensive dental care to low-income and elderly adults who cannot afford treatment and do not qualify for public programs.  Many of these individuals have serious oral health programs and live in constant pain or discomfort.   Robert, featured in this video, was treated under the DDS program operated by CADF and is forever grateful for the life-changing care he received.

Volunteer dentists treat patients in their own office, with their own staff and equipment.  Tiffany Teague, CADF’s DDS Program Coordinator screens all patients for eligibility and handles all the paperwork.

As a volunteer provide, you have the flexibility to schedule patients at your own convenience. If for some reason, you are matched with a patient that you do not wish to treat, you are free to decline the case.  As the dental professional, you will determine the patient’s treatment plan and you will not responsible for lab costs.

You can volunteer for one case a month—or one case per year.  Only dentists can provide this life-changing care and the demand for care is growing.

For questions or more information, give Tiffany Teague a call at 512-578-9402 or email her at tiffany.cadf@gmail.com

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

For many of us, going to the dentist—whether it be for an annual cleaning or for tooth
pain—is something we take for granted.

But for too many in our community, a dental visit is out of reach for
financial and other reasons.  That’s where CADF volunteers come in.

Every month at CADF, we like to recognize and offer a heartfelt thanks to the
providers that treat patients through one of our four programs.  Thank you CADF dentists for donating your time and talent to bring needed oral health care to so many Central Texans in need.

Central Texas Dentists Giving Back

Central Texas dentists have been keeping busy—busy giving back to the community.

On Saturday, August 18, the Rose Dental Group in South Austin sponsored its
third annual “Dentists with a Heart” event.  During the successful event, seven Rose Dental Group dentists and seven hygienists provided charitable dental care to 75 uninsured patients and nine children under the age of thirteen.  Patients received free exams, cleanings,X-rays, extractions, basic fillings and life-saving oral cancer screenings.

Charlotte Laguna, a program coordinator with the Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF) attended the event to share information about CADF with both patients and providers.

A special thanks to the Rose Dental Group for spearheading this fantastic event and to the following dentists who generously donated their time and talent to serve members of the community in need.

Central Texas Dentists Participate in Second Annual “Serve Day”

Every year, dentists across Central Texas donate their time and talent to people in desperate need of oral health care.  Some of this charitable care is provided throughout the year through programs administered by organizations like the Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF).  Still other charitable care is provided by dentists on specific days as part of a community-wide special event.  A great example of this type of charitable giving is the second annual “Serve Day,” organized by Austin Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics in partnership with CADF and the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).

On August 11, local dentists and dental care professionals from Austin Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics spent the day providing pro bono dental care, including cleanings, exams and fillings, to local Austin musicians in need.  Supplies and equipment were also donated.

CADF Chairman, Dr. Kavin Kelp, along with CADF Treasurer, Dr. Stan La Croix attended the August 11 event.  “This is a great example of groups working together to make a difference in the live of those in the community.  CADF would like to thank Austin Modern Dentistry for their generosity and dedication to making this event a success,” said Dr. Kelp.

A special thanks to CADF program coordinator, Charlotte Laguna, for scheduling the HAAM patients.
