Thank YOU LCRA Employees!~

The Capital Area Dental Foundation is excited to announce that it was recently awarded a grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) Employees’ United Charities.

All funds will be used on direct patient care to pay lab fees for low-income, disabled and elderly patients receiving care through our Healthy Smiles for Texans program.

The LCRA United Charities has donated more than $6 million in grants to more than 500 nonprofit organizations since April 1990. United Charities is funded by LCRA employees who participate by voluntarily donating up to two hours of their monthly pay into the fund. Employee committees determine how the funds will be distributed.

Thank you LCRA for this amazing vote of confidence and support for the charitable work performed by CADF volunteers!

Goal!!

A cancer survivor suffering post-radiation tooth loss.  A homeless veteran with a painful dental infection.  A young mother too embarrassed to smile for a family photo.  An elderly grandmother who cannot chew her food.

These are just a few examples of the people your donations to CADF have helped.

For a tax-deductible gift of $1,000 you can now become a Founding Member of the Sustainer’s Circle, CADF’s new annual giving campaign.  You will be joining an exclusive group of philanthropists who passionately support CADF and its charitable mission of expanding access to oral health care for those who need it the most.  As a founding member, your generous gift will be recognized in perpetuity on the CADF web site, in our annual report and at the annual Gala.

Because of YOU, CADF is more than halfway towards its initial $30,000 fundraising goal.  Click here to learn more about the Sustainer’s Circle and to join us on our journey to transform lives.

P.S. If you wish to donate a smaller amount or prefer to make payments monthly, you can still join the Sustainer’s Circle. Every gift counts and will be used to connect volunteer dentists to patients in the community.

Thank YOU May Volunteer Dentists!

The Capital Area Dental Foundation relies on volunteer dentists to achieve its charitable mission and transform the lives of poor and uninsured Central Texans with urgent dental needs. We would like thank the following Austin area dentists for volunteering in one of our four programs during the month of May.

A special thanks to our newest dental providers (bolded) for joining us our journey to restore health, eliminate pain and inspire confidence.

You Can Change a Life!

The Capital Area Development Foundation (CADF) is proud to be partnering with the Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation to recruit volunteer dentists for the Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) event scheduled for August 1 and 2 in Georgetown (Williamson County).

If you are a dentist and have never volunteered at a TMOM before, this is your chance.   As a volunteer dentist, you will be provided with everything you need to treat uninsured Texans who are living with dental pain.  In just a few short hours, you can relieve a person’s long-lasting pain and promote their general health and well-being.   Two shifts are available: 6 AM to noon and noon to 5 PM.

Click here for frequently asked questions about TMOM.

Welcome to the Family!

The Capital Area Dental Foundation relies on volunteer dentists to achieve its charitable mission of expanding access to dental care to community members who need it the most.  We would like to welcome and thank the following new Austin area dentists for signing up this past month to join us on our journey to change lives.

The Capital Area Dental Foundation new annual giving program, the Sustainer’s Circle makes is easy to find your inner philanthropist.

Three Reasons to Join the Sustainer’s Circle Today:

  1. Your donation will change lives.   Every dollar you give helps CADF connect a volunteer dentist with a person in the community who desperately needs dental treatment, but for many different reasons, cannot afford it.
  2. You will be in good company.  CADF supporters are leaders in the community and the dental profession.  With your permission, we will promote your generous participation in the Sustainer’s Circle at the Gala, on the CADF web site and in our annual report.  Become a Founding Member and receive special benefits.
  3. You are busy. You may not have time to attend the Gala or volunteer.  But you want to give back.  Joining the Sustainer’s Circle is quick, easy and affordable. Just click here to get started.

You decide the level you want to give each month (starting at $25 per month for new dentists) and we will take care of the rest.  Just click here to join or contact CADF’s executive director, Megan Woodburn at  512-992-1217 or
m.woodburn@capitalareadentalfoundation.org
.

Share some Goodwill!

When most of us get ready for a job interview, we focus on the questions that might be asked and how to best respond.  But for many Central Texas jobseekers, a top concern is: “How can I hide my teeth?” or “Will the interviewer understand me?”

Dental problems pose a significant barrier to finding a job, so CADF and Goodwill Central Texas have partnered up to identify and care for individuals who need major dental treatment to eliminate pain, gain confidence and advance their careers.

The pilot program is well underway.  So far, nine amazing dentists have signed up to provide charitable care to seven hard-working individuals who are part of Goodwill’s highly-respected job training program.

CADF is looking for several more volunteer dentists to take new cases.  As a Goodwill volunteer, you will have the chance to truly touch someone’s life and give them the confidence they need to find the job of their dreams.

For more information about how you can volunteer, please contact Lisa Apfelberg at 512-992-1217 or l.apfelberg@capitalareadentalfoundation.org.

A Cure for the Humdrums!

In 2013, CADF volunteers provided charitable dental care to over 700 patients. But, did you know that care was delivered by only 50 dentists?

CADF needs your help to keep serving the hundreds of patients who sign up for our four programs.  Whether you have the time to treat one patient a month or one patient a year, you can change someone else’s life for the better, not to mention your own!

To learn more about CADF volunteer opportunities, please contact Meg Hulse today at (512) 578-9402 or m.hulse@capitalareadentalfoundation.org
